Respiratory Care Practitioner (Pediatric)

• Monitor and maintain airway clearance for assigned patients utilizing adjunctive procedures such as mechanical suction, percussion and postural drainage.

• Provide chest physical therapy, and hyperinflation therapy as order by physician.

• Apply appropriate mechanical ventilator modalities as initiated by physician order.

• Apply Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NPPV), Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and Bi-Level, Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP) as per physician order.

• Perform bedside pulmonary mechanics measures and evaluate mechanically ventilated patients for extubation readiness.

• Institute and monitor oscillating ventilation and cardiopulmonary status of all assigned patients.

• Interpret clinical data to optimize patient clinical objectives and perform Capnography monitoring.

• Assist physician during all patient transportations and bronchoscopy procedures.

• Evaluate appropriateness of medical orders.

• Adhere to Infection Control standards, safety and environmental health practices.

• Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee’s knowledge, skills and abilities.

• Good working knowledge of medical terminology.

• Excellent communication skills in English.

• Good working knowledge of word processing equipment, storage/retrieval systems related to medical data.
