Performs his/her duties and tasks as per Hospital Policy and Agreement on Professional Code of Conduct.
Actively participates in all quality and performance improvement activities within the department/service and within the hospital as per Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
Actively participates in all the education requirement and activities as per the Hospital Education Program.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of practice and employment contract.
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient’s care in accordance with established Policies and Guidelines.
Performs a variety of nursing measures based on patient needs related to physical and mental comfort, positioning and mobilization, nutrition and hydration, bowel and bladder elimination, care of the skin, wound care, support of respiration, hygiene, communication and fulfilling other fundamental needs of the patient.
Administers medications under the supervision of the Head Nurse/ Assistant Head Nurse or the Charge Nurse.
Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients/families and elicits their participation in care.
Utilizes the services of a Nursing Interpreter to ensure effective communication.
Ensures patient confidentiality is maintained and patient rights are upheld.
Participates in the planning and provision of patient and family teaching relative to their understanding of the illness and treatment. Collaborates with other healthcare team members to develop patient’s education plan.
Communicates and provides accurate and complete information through established verbal and written reports.
Recognizes emergencies and takes appropriate action.
Ensures that all hospital and unit policies and procedures are adhered to.
Takes responsibility for ensuring safe lifting techniques.
Ensures that safe infection control practices are adhered to.
Completes all nursing documentation accurately and legibly and understands the importance and relevance of their confidential nature.
Ensures the safety and well-being of patients and staff in accordance with policies and procedures.
Documents and reports all accidents/incidents to head nurse/charge nurse.
Assists in data collection for monitoring and statistical purposes as assigned.
Establishes and develops effective communications with all staff of other disciplines, patients and relatives.
Participates in collaborative approach to provide continuity of care through discharge planning for selected patients.
Assists with the resolution of problems on a shift-to-shift basis with appropriate documentation and follow up reports to the head nurse.
Responsible for own professional development and growth and remains updated in current professional practices.
Responsible for keeping updated in Infection Control, Lifting and Handling, Fire and Safety and Disaster on a yearly basis.
Maintains a safe and clean environment for the patient.
Adheres to Policies and Procedures.
Seeks opportunities for personal growth and development by participating in in-services, multidisciplinary patient care conferences, continuing education, unit meetings, continuous quality management, special projects and offers suggestions related to improving services.
Exercises professional behavior and is responsible for his/her actions as a Registered Nurse.
Reports any change in the patients' condition to appropriate senior nurse.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
