• DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Washes and decontaminates used instruments and equipment by following prescribed techniques.

• Maintains, and operates washer/sterilizers, sonic washer, steam and other related equipment by adhering to instructions.

• Processes and maintains sterile instruments and surgical sets by adhering to adequacy of sets and correct handling techniques.

• Collects and distributes items to and from the units in a timely manner and correctly documents any shortage problem.

• Inspects all instruments and devices to determine that they are in good working condition.

• Checks for and processes outdated supplies and instruments according to procedure.

• Assists in the maintenance of efficient and adequate stock levels.

• Reports any problems to CSSD Manager.

• Promotes personal growth and education by attending in service and unit staff meetings and offers suggestions related to improving service units.

• Keeps work area and equipment clean.

• Maintains quality standards of service by adhering to established policies and procedures.

• Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

• PERSONAL QUALITIES/SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Essential: Verbal and written comprehension of the English language.

• Essential: Knowledge of surgical instruments desirable.
