1.1 Code the diagnoses and procedures that are listed by a physician on the patient's discharge summary, code additional diagnoses and procedures that may be identified in a patient's record, and code outpatient diagnostic episodes as may be directed

1.2 Maintain an established standard of daily coding production within three months after beginning work as diagnoses coder

1.3 Liaise with the Medical Staff as necessary in order to clarify diagnoses and procedures for coding purposes

1.4 Maintain and update current listings of uncoded discharges in the medical record database system

1.5 Utilize the Medical Record Information System, enter inpatient and outpatient episodes into the hospital's computer database system

1.6 Review medical records prior to coding in order to assure that they are complete. Return incomplete records for assembly and analysis

1.7 Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee's knowledge, skills and abilities

1.8 Essential: Demonstrated knowledge in the practice and use of ICD9CM in addition to extensive knowledge in Anatomy and Physiology and medical and clinical terminology

1.9 Essential: Operational knowledge in the use of medical record database system
