Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff, and those specific to the department.

Assists in the management of neonatal patients and provide back-up support to the consultant.

Manages and to take care of the airway of the critically ill neonatal patient.

Manages and insert arterial lines and central lines if requested.

Assists consultants and nursing staff in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Theatre recovery area, ward or other areas in the hospital as needed.

History taking , physical examinations, interpretation, of common diagnostic tests and documents patient care with senior staff.

Evaluate new admission and coordinates with senior staff a plan of investigation to establish a diagnosis and a management course.

Follows all assigned patients and and write progress and decisions made clinical findings, laboratory results, assessment and decisions made during ward rounds.

Attends daily word/unit rounds and sign-out rounds.

Works under supervision and instruction of assigned consultant/specialist.

Should seek the advice of or help of the senior staff whenever the condition of a patient merits further expertise.

Conducts daily ward rounds to his/ her inpatients.

Performing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures to his /her patients in his field of specialty under supervision of senior staff (consultant /specialist).

Carries out on call duties in the hospital.

Present cases at team grand round and morning meeting when required.

Attends clinics of the assigned consultants when requited.

Prepares discharge summaries, death reports and special reports on related patients.

Actively participates in department and hospital educational and training activities.

Respond immediately to clinical emergencies within all departments in the hospital and in the absence of a more experienced medical practitioner, lead the resuscitation team during emergency situations.

In an emergency situation, undertake emergency investigations and procedures in accordance with hospital policies and protocols and/or as directed by the patient’s consultant.

Cherk and assess all emergency admissions on the request of the admitting consultant and/or the senior nurse in charge of the ward/hospital.

Respond promptly to the request of consultant medical staff and nursing staff to attend any patient within the hospital, and to initiate or advise on treatment as indicated.

Undertake specific medical procedures on pediatric patients within all departments in the hospital as requested by consultants, or in support of nursing and other clinical staff Sitting of intravenous cannulae and commencing intravenous infusions, Urinary catheterizations – urethral, Administration of intravenous drugs,ECG,Phlebotomy and arterial blood gas sampling.

Check and review blood results as directed by consultant or nursing staff.

Prescribe medicines to take home in accordance with consultant instructions and/or protocol.

Comply with the hospital’s consent and confidentiality policy.

Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.

Participates in CQI&PS system improvement activities, system control activities, and staff development activities.

Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills, and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical facilities.

Respiratory medicine and emergency medicine rotations.

Must be flexible and able to adapt their approach to fit with changing conditions, tasks, responsibilities or people.

Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
