Abides by the Medical Staff By-Laws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department.

Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/she is responsible according to established policies, protocols and guidelines of the hospital.

Carries out full range of clinical duties as assigned by the director of department/head of division in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges.

Complete required approved clinical privileges and be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Diagnostic Evaluations:

Conduct comprehensive audiological assessments and/or reassessment to diagnose hearing and balance disorders in patients.

Utilize various diagnostic tools and equipment, such as audiometers, tympanometers, and otoacoustic emissions (OAE) testing devices, to evaluate patients' auditory and vestibular functions.

Treatment Planning:

Develop personalized treatment plans based on patients' diagnoses, including hearing aid recommendations, cochlear implant evaluations, auditory rehabilitation, and balance therapy.

Collaborate with physicians, speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care for patients with complex auditory and vestibular conditions.

Hearing Aid Services:

Provide expert guidance and counseling to patients and their families on hearing aid selection, fitting, and maintenance.

Conduct hearing aid fittings, adjustments, and follow-up appointments to ensure optimal hearing outcomes for patients.

Vestibular Assessment and Rehabilitation:

Perform vestibular assessments, including videonystagmography (VNG) and vestibular evoked myogenic potential (VEMP) testing, to evaluate patients with balance disorders.

Develop vestibular rehabilitation protocols to help patients improve balance and reduce symptoms of dizziness and vertigo.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessment findings, treatment plans, progress notes, and correspondence with other healthcare providers.

Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and standards of practice in audiologic care.

Education and Training:

Provide educational resources and training sessions to patients, families, and healthcare colleagues on hearing conservation, communication strategies, and assistive listening devices.

Stay informed about advances in audiology research, technology, and clinical practice through continuing education activities and professional development opportunities.

Strictly adhere to ethical and professional standards, including patient confidentiality, informed consent, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including nursing staff, allied health professionals, and consultants, to facilitate efficient patient care and ensure appropriate consultations when needed.

Provide visible and effective transformational leadership at the bedside that fosters a positive, safe working environment, a Culture of Safety and a Culture of Civility.

Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department/division.

Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Total Quality Medicine Programme, Quality Assessment Improvement Programme) as applicable.

Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties (SCFHS) with regard to continuing medical education.

Deputizes for his superior as required and shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues.

Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard to morbidity and cost effectiveness.

Actively participate in disaster plan activities of the hospital, including planning, training, and response protocols. Be prepared to provide medical assistance during mass casualty incidents or public health emergencies as indicated.

Ability to use scientific techniques to sort through data and conflicting information to reach an accurate medical diagnosis.

Ability to work cooperatively and strategically in a multicultural team environment with all levels of healthcare professionals, technical and administrative staff.

Self-motivated and with awareness of current trends in the fields.

Ability to use problem solving to evaluate patients’ symptoms and administer the appropriate treatments.

Commitment to learning and training in pursuance of a career in his chosen specialty.

Ability to assume greater responsibility in matters of patient care.
