Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach lessons as required according to the needs of the department/program in the classroom or the laboratory. The instructor has full responsibility for teaching students, guiding their work, discipline, operation of visual aids, and safe use of scientific equipment in practical work.

• Supervise and evaluate the students’ activities in the above department.

• Prepare and deliver all teaching materials, including notes, hand-outs, references, tapes, and slides.

• Undertake a teaching load not exceeding 20 class contact hours per week.

• Assist senior staff in the preparation and review of course curricula.

• Supervise and/or invigilate mid-semester and end-of-semester examinations.

• Prepare and assess all homework, class and laboratory tests and exercises and examinations.

• Maintains proper records of all assessments and provide such information as required by the Head of the Department, including the preparation of student progress reports.

• Keep a record of student attendance at all classes, in according with current Academic Department policies.

• Maintain high standards of student discipline in all classes.

• Liaise with the Laboratory staff regarding provisioning for Laboratory classes.

• Organize, store an check equipment used in the instructor’s specialty, advice the senior staff of deficiencies and suggest improvements to ensure effective laboratory equipment.

• Maintain safety in laboratory classes and warn senior Academic Department staff of any new hazards.

• Attend departmental meetings and participate fully in all departmental activities.

• Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee’s knowledge, skills and abilities

Specialized Knowledge:

1. High degree of computer literacy and ability to integrate technology into the learning environment and teaching methodology.
2. Excellent standard of oral and written communication skills in Arabic and English

Personal Qualities:

1. Patient and ability to appreciate the problem of student who is learning in a non-native language.
2. Ability to provide instructions at various levels within the program area.
3. Ability to motivate students and develop a good rapport with students and other members of staff.
4. Ability to develop a good working relation with colleagues, working as a member of a team and be able to lead when required
