• Rotate to the various sections to the division as required.

• Receive tissue and other clinical samples, ensure that they are accurately identified and specifically verify that the information on the specimen container label matches that of the requisition form.

• Prepare specimens be standard methods, ensuring high quality specimens for the examination; perform other procedures as may be required to complete the examination.

• Keep accurate bench log of all procedures performed.

• Participate in the laboratory on-call/shift duties on weekends and public holidays.

• Assist the SMLSO/MLSO in carrying out all procedures relating to specimen collection, sample, preparation, analysis, verification and recording of results as required.

• Comply with standard operating procedures, quality control and safety standard in performance of tasks.

• Utilize and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies in a manner which will ensure both cost effectiveness and safety.

• Inform SMLSO as soon as possible of any problem relating to quality control.

• Participate in the Major Disaster Plan of the PSMMC as indicated.

• Abide by all related PSMMC-wide policies and procedures, Hospital By-laws and those specific to the department.

• Adhere at all times to the confidentiality code of conduct protecting patients’ rights to privacy.

• Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee’s knowledge, skills and abilities.

• Knowledge of laboratory terminology and equipment.

• Knowledge of laboratory tests and analysis.

• Familiarity with computers.

• Good standard of oral and written communication skills in Arabic and English.

Two (2) years Diploma Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent qualification
