• Duties and responsibilities:

• Design or use surveillance tools, such as screening, lab reports, and vital records, to identify health risks.

• Coordinate or integrate the available resources of health care to improve community health.

• Develop health assessment methods or programs.

• Teach or train medical staff and medical providers regarding preventive medicine programs.

• Prepare preventive health reports including problem descriptions, analysis, alternative solutions, and recommendations.

• Conduct and present research to increase knowledge about preventive medical issues.

• Design implement, or evaluate health service delivery system to improve the health of targeted populations.

• Performs epidemiological investigations of infectious and non infectious acute and chronic diseases.

• Provide health and wellness information, potential health hazards and possible interventions to the media, other health care professionals, or local, and federal health authorities.

• Identify groups at risk for specific preventable diseases or injuries.

• Present and educate lay or professional audiences about public health programs such as preventable diseases, injuries, nutrition, food services sanitation, water supply safety, insects control, and immunization.

• Evaluate information to ensure compliance with standards.

• Specialized knowledge:

• Complementary training program and specialization requirements in epidemiology, social and behavioural sciences, health services administration, and environmental health science, research, patient care, biostatistics and management of health care organization.

• Knowledge in public health programs
