• Ensure the highest standard of clinical care is maintained, utilizing a systematic approach to nursing.

• Assist in organizing and implementing nursing services under his/ her supervision as delegated by the Director of Nursing.

• Participate in formulating nursing policies and procedures.

• Participate in the monitoring, planning, delivery of care and evaluation of the standards of care.

• Analyze nursing services to improve quality of patient care and obtain maximum utilization of staff time and abilities .

• Coordinate activities of the nursing units to achieve and maintain efficient and competent nursing services under the guidance of Director of Nursing.

• Promote and maintain harmonious relationship between personnel, medical staff, patients and others.

• Assist in establishing lines of authority and responsibility and defining the duties of nursing personnel under the authority of the Director of Nursing.

• Assist the Director of Nursing in the review and evaluation of the budget requests against the current and the projected needs of nursing services.

• Participate in the planning of the work of the nursing units and coordinates activities with other related departments under the guidance of the Director of Nursing.

• Liaise with the hospital management regarding the availability of supplies and facilities for maintaining patient care.

• Ensures proper and economical use of equipment, supplies and facilities for maintaining patient care.

• 1 3. Supervise Charge Nurses in carrying out their duties and responsibilities in the management of nursing units.

• Demonstrate effective leadership within the areas of responsibility.

• Interview nursing applicants, reviews job applications and makes recommendations for appointments to the Director of Nursing.

• Participate in conducting nursing orientation in the ward level.

• Ensure continuous education of all staff in the assigned ward.

• Ensure that all new staff receives appropriate orientation and have clear understanding of their duties, responsibilities and the standards of performance expected as per job description.

• Evaluate the performance of nursing personnel and inspects the units to verify that patients' needs are met.

• Ensure that all evaluations for the nursing staff are completed in a timely manner and forwarded for recommendation to the Director of Nursing.

• Maintain efficient vacation planning for nursing personnel under their responsibility following the relevant Policy and Procedures Guidelines (PPG).

• Monitor staff sickness and absence record and keeps the Director of Nursing informed about issues of concern or any trends of behavior.

• Monitor the staffs' adherence to the uniform policy, takes corrective action and refers to Director of Nursing for further corrective action if required.

• Conduct quality assurance and nursing audit activities, makes recommendation and reports the results to the Director of Nursing.

• Investigate incident reports, initiate corrective actions and consults with the Director of Nursing for any further action required.

• Handle complaints, investigates the findings and reports to the Director of Nursing.

• Resolve disciplinary issues within the context of the hospital's disciplinary procedure under the guidance of Director of Nursing.

• Ensure that all hospital and departmental policies and procedures are adhered by all nursing staff.

• Maintain good working environment, in which patients receive high standard of care.

• Establish effective and professional working relations and communication channels among all grades of staff.

Keep minutes of departmental meeting and submits accordingly to Director of Nursing
