1. Familiarize and comply with all the Nursing / Hospital policies and
procedures and unit routines in accordance with the unit designations.
2. Assists the mother during labor and monitors the condition of the fetus 'in utero by the appropriate clinical and technical means.
3. Recognizes and reports any signs of obstetric abnormality in the mother or foetus appropriately to the Obstetrician as necessary.
4. Conducts spontaneous delivery including episiotomy, where required as per hospital policy.
5. Perform a variety of supportive and technical nursing skills and utilizes a range of equipment, supplies, treatment monitoring techniques and other diagnostic, therapeutic and supportive measures in carrying out doctors orders.
6. Maintain safety and well being of mothers and infants in accordance withthe health and safety Policy and ensures that any accidents or incidents are reported and documented.
7. Establish a therapeutic relationships with the patient and her family to elicit their participation and responsibility in care.
8. Demonstrate competency in the use of obstetric monitoring equipment 'such as CTG,IVAC etc., be able to use safely and report any mechanical malfunction to maintenance department in a timely
manner. Administer medication, IV administration and narcotic/controlled drugs according to hospital / nursing policy.
9. Proficient in intravenous cannulation and venipuncture, as required,
monitors and documents action taken.
10. Initiate and perform range of nursing measures based on patient needs in accordance to her physical and mental comfort; position and mobilization, nutrition and hydration, care of skin and wounds, hygiene, communication and body functions as required.
ll. Maintain and strict adherence to safe infection control practices.
12. Provide the highest standard of care to the patients by working as a team member and communicating effectively in a professional manner to multi disciplinary staff, ensuring cultural needs are met.
13. Respects the dignity and maintain confidentiality upholding patient privacy at all times.
14. Recognize emergency situation and take appropriate action quickly and effectively.
15. Report problems and actions to Head Nurse I Charge Nurse with regular activity report.
16. Maintains professional appearance and adheres to the dress code policy.
17. Develop and update self-professional knowledge and skills by attending ' training and educational programs.
18.Participate in assigned unit programs; such as staff orientation, continuing education, unit meetings, CQI-PS, assistance with the teaching and coordinating with the OJT students assigned in the clinical area.
19. Exercise professional ethics and behavior.
20. Act as mentor / resource personnel for the new staff, nursing / midwifery staff and other allied health care personnel.
21. Maintains all necessary records, ensures effective communication among staff members.
22. Ensures all documentation is accurate and legible and completed in a timely manner.
23. Responsible in checking, stocking, cleaning and maintenance of equipment and supplies every shift.
24. Foster good working relationships will all professional colleagues and work as a reliable and conscientious team member including support
services in order to ensure smooth running of the clinical area.
25. Furnish clear and comprehensive written and verbal reports to the incoming shift and received well-informed reports from the previous
shift.
26. Performs other applicable tasks and duties within the realm of her knowledge, skills and abilities as assigned and delegated in accordance with the hospital policy.
27. Updated BLS certification, Saudi council License, Medication competency and other staff development.
المهارات
1- Skills in handling equipment and procedures in Maternity.
2- Preferably computer Literate.
