1- Provide leadership and direction for the staff within the unit.

2- Motivates in sets goals for others to follow, consistent with the
organization's strategic direction.

3- Develop appropriate relationships to provide an effective working
relationship.
4- Management relationships in the public environment to further the
interests of the organization.
5- Demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize, analyze and resolve a
range of issue/problems.
6- Ensure optimum service delivery, and efficient and effective use of resources.
7- Has accountability for the audit requirements to be undertaken in a timely manner.
8- Ensure effective and efficient utilization of the Emergency
Department of Nursing areas.
9- Liaise closely with the Head of Emergency Department.
10- Identify and analyze variation in the workload and performance of the department.
11- Initiate investigation and addressing of complaints and quality
deficits that are presented to the service.
12- Provide input into the unit and company business plan, procedures and protocols.
13- Responsible for maintenance of rosters including management of annual leave within budgeted staffing numbers.
14- Ensure flexible utilization of staff to cover variation in workload.
15- Monitor employee absenteeism levels.
16- Participate in management and service management meeting.

1- Knowledge in management and administrative.
2- Knowledge in quality improvement sufficient to be able to
ensure department compliance with accreditation.
3- Knowledge all instrumentations, equipment and technical procedures.
4- Knowledge in budgeting principles and practices sufficient to be able to assume budgetary responsibilities as required.

5- Effective communication with a wide variety of peoples.

6- Expert in research and literature.
