Duties and Responsibilities

 

6.1.  l Assists the Director of Nursing in setting Nursing Services vision, mission and strategic objectives.

 

6.1.2Participates in the development of the Nursing Administration's annual budget.

 

6. l.3     Participates in developing the Operation Plan of the Nursing units.

 

6.1.4       Oversees the activities and operations of the related administrations and monitors the employee's adherence to the rules, regulations and guidelines.

 

6.1.5        Conducts annual performance appraisals of direct subordinates, ensuresthat the performance appraisals are properly evaluated, developed and rewarded.

6.1.6         Assesses staff competency and reviews those with below average or excellent scores with the Director of ursing prior to being finalized, collaborates on disciplinary actions above a verbal reprimand.

 

6.1.7         Recommends benefits, rewards and promotions to the Director of ursing based on employees' performance.

 

6.1.8         Develops and shares periodic reports, outlining the Nursing Administration performance over the period and escalates them to the Direct or of ursing.

 

6.1.9         Recommends and implements the management of change through national and international best practices.

 

6.1.10      Deputizes the Director of ursing- coordinates nursing activities and handles administrative and clinical issues during the absence of the

ursing Director

Defines directs and maintains the standards of nursing practice within the hospital and ensures compliance to these standards and regulations.

 

Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.

 

Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting the hospital and nursing philosophies and standards of care; enforcing adherence to regulations and measuring health outcomes against standards.

 

 

 

6.2.4       Ensu res adherence to requirements by having detailed knowledge and control over the day-to-day operations of the nursing practice at the hospital to ensure adherence to the components of such.

 

6.2.5       Ensures appropriate reporting, monitoring and escalation systems are in place.

 

6.2.6        Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by monitoring the processing of confidential information.

 

6.2.7        Maintains cooperative relationships among health care teams in order to optimize the functioning of multi-disciplinary teams.

 

 

 

 

  • Ensures that the nursing supplies inventory is always properly stocked by studying usage reports, identifying trends, anticipated needed supplie s and approving requisitions.

 

  • Participatesinpreparingexternal and internal disaster plans.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Defines the needed policies and procedures for the nursing departments.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Improves the employees work environment.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Participates and supervises nursing interviews and recruitments (internal and external).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • I3 Sup ports the quality assurance activities of the department and actively contributes to the identification of needed improvement in current service provision as well as strategies for introducing these.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Participates and contributes to Continuous Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, Staff Development, System Control, Environmental Safety Awareness, i.e. CPR, Fire and Safety, Infection Control and Major Disas ter plan.
