• Duties and Responsibilities
• Conducts daily infection  surveillance activities to collect and record data on the
•                    presence of infection among patients and personnel.
• Investigates and  analyzes   Health   Care  Acquired Infections in conjunction with the  Microbiologist   and   prepares   Health   Care   Acquired   Infection  monthly  report for the hospital Infection Control Committee.
• Reviews and updates     policies/procedures     with    the    Infection    Control Head of Department and Infection Control Committee members.
• Advises personnel about hospital Isolation Policies and Procedures and ensures that measures are appropriate to improve the care of patients in isolation.
• Maintains close liaison with Employee Health Clinic of the hospital to ascertain the presence of infection in hospital personnel.
• Acts as a resource person on Infection Control issues and support for nurses in clinical areas.
• Serves as an adviser to department head on departmental policies and procedures related to infection control.
• Provides information for   new   employees   and   periodic updates for nursing personnel   and   personnel   from   other   departments   as    to   the   importance of infection control.
• Conducts inspection of high risk patient care areas and environment and food service areas, in conjunction with the Preventive Medicine Physician.
• Provides education on Infection Control practice to all staff, patients and as appropriate to family and other care givers.
• Prepares monthly statistics   and    other   reports  on  Infection  Control in the hospital.
• Participates in or conducts special projects related to Infection Control.
• Member of Infection Control Committee.
• Performs other applicable tasks and duties within the realm of knowledge, skills and abilities.
