Duties and Responsibilities
3.1 the Registrar will assess, investigate' and undertake relevant further medical management
of patients attending Emergency' Department' This includes effective and appropriate
liaison with other health providers to optimize patient management.
3.2 provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he./she
is responsible.
3.3 TheRegistrarwill.whenpossible.beavailabletoofferadviceandassistancetothe
Resident or HSO working alongside in Emergency Department.
3.4 Routine duties are carried out in the Emergency Department.
3.5 Hours duty are allocated according lo a roistered shift system.
3.6 The Registrar shall be responsible for the appropriate \"handing-over\" (transfer of
management) of any patient sunder their care to a doctor on the next shift.
3.7 Clinical skills, judgment and relevant knowledge arc expected to improve during his/her
assignment.
3.8 The Registrar is expected to lake Pan in Clinical Audit/Quality improvement Programs
with Emergency Department.
3.9 The Registrar is expected (in the course of their daily clinical work ) to assist with the
supervision/training of medical trainee items.
3.10 Legible clinical notes will be written on the appropriate Emergency care Charts with
regard to every consultation and stage of patient management' this must be include the
name of the Doctor, the time the patient is seen, the time of referral or discharge and the
disposition oft he patient using the computer and entering electronic data.
3.11 To ensure that a copy of the clinical notes or discharge summary accompanies every
patient on their discharge from the department, and that relevant follow-up arrangement
are made.
3.12 Where appropriate, the Registrar will provide a prescription of medication and/or relevant
certificate regarding work fitness.
3.13 All medico-legal administrative activities will be carried out in consultation with the
Director of the department.
3.14 Participates in the on'call duties as required by the department
3.15 Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care. (Quality improvement
program as applicable.
3.16 Instructed and guides when necessary junior medical staff in the overall care of patients'
supervises their performance/work and contributors to the training and teaching activities
in the department.
3.17 Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi council of health specialties with regard to continuing medical education.
3.18 to acquire and maintain valid certification in Advanced Cardiac life Support (ACLS).
3.19 attend the Continuing Medical Education Program of the department.
3.20 Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard to
morbidity and cost effectiveness.
3.21 Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.
3.22 To resuscitate or stabilize patients and refer them to the appropriate medical/surgical departments.
3.23 Perform other applicable asks and duties assigned within the realm of the employees'
knowledge, skills and abilities
