Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures correct patient identification in Out Patient Department according to policy.
Prepare different clinics according to specialties to ensure the smooth running of OPD.
Ensure that the equipment used in consulting room are functional. E.g. weighing scales, dynamaps, etc.
Check the crash cart at the beginning of every shift.
Assist the doctor with examination of patients in consulting rooms.
Monitor and record vital signs.
Arrange admission documents and escort patients to the ward for admission.
Rotate in different clinics to be familiar with all the specialty clinics.
Perform aseptic techniques in wound dressing.
Observes Infection Control Policies at all times.
Assist the doctors in procedures such as cast application, ear irrigation, nasal douche.
Collect data related to KPI monitored in the unit.
Activate emergency codes including Code Blue and participate in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.
Prepares and administers topical medicinal ointments.
Supervises and orientate new staff.
Participates in the on-going in-service training of the department/unit.
Takes responsibility for his/her own professional conduct and growth.
Protects patient’s confidentiality in accordance with the hospital policy.
Ensures that all nursing documentation is completed accurately and legibly and understands the importance and relevance of their confidential nature.
Responsible for own professional development growth and remains updated in current professional practices.
Must be BCLS certified and is responsible for keeping CPR certification 2 yearly and updated on a yearly basis (Saudi Heart Council Recommendation).
Demonstrate knowledge of the hospital quality programme.
Demonstrate effective communication in the work place.
Demonstrate high standards of clinical knowledge and practices.
Carries out other duties appropriate to the role and the individual at the request Head Nurse/Charge Nurse.
Participate in Community activities as related to health education and immunization campaigns.
Participates in CQIPS System Improvement Activities, CQIPS System Control Activities, CQIPS Staff Development Activities.
Participate in Environmental Safety Awareness i.e. Disaster, CPR, Fire Management.
