Nursing Supervisor

• Supervises, directs, coordinates and monitors the operation of clinical and administrative issues of the Nursing Department in collaboration with Head Nurses and Assistant Director of Nursing.

• Assists in implementing and compliance of JCI and CBAHI Standards, Policy and Procedures to all nursing units and give suggestions for improvement.
• Assumes the leadership role, accepts accountability, stands for Director of Nursing after hours and liaises with the Hospital Director and Medical Director.
• Assist staff with clinical issues through the use of the nursing process and appropriately advises personnel in making good decisions.
• Acts as a resource person in areas of patient care and administration to resolve issues within a specific time frame.
• Available as an immediate resource for hospital personnel on assigned shift.
• Responds to all emergency situations, hospital codes within the hospital.
• Coordinates activities as outlined in the policy and procedures required by the situation.
• Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of programs and share clinical and administrative knowledge with staff.
• Assists Head Nurses in the identification of staff requiring education and training to meet the established standards of work performance and best practice.
• Exercises good judgment and leadership skills at all times and fairness to all staff.
• Coordinates the management of patient care on all assigned shift.
• Demonstrates competencies in personnel supervision, use of available resources and redeployment of staff.
• Acts as Nursing Administrative representative during the assigned shift.
• Responds to situational opportunities and/or problems that occur in a timely manner and demonstrates the ability to maximize the opportunity or minimize the problem.
• Notifies outside agencies of patients with infection disease as required.
• Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned by the Director of Nursing or designee within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

• Is a liaison between the patient, the patient’s family and other healthcare professionals and acts as a patient/family advocate.
• Collaborative, able to work with all members of healthcare team in a manner that promotes and encourages each contribution towards achieving optimal patient, family and organizational goals.
• Able to respond, anticipate and integrate cultural differences into patient/family care and foster principles of excellent customer service.
• Able to facilitate learning for patients/families, nursing staff and other members of the healthcare team in both a formal and informal educational setting.
