Nursing L&D

• Performs a variety of supportive and technical midwifery skills. Utilizes a range of equipment, supplies, medications, treatments, monitoring techniques and other diagnosis, therapeutic and supportive measures in carrying out medical orders.

• Ensures patient confidentiality is maintained and rights are upheld.

• Reports any significant changes in patient’s condition to appropriate senior nurse and / or responsible obstetrician.

• Plans and provides patient education, relative to their understanding of pregnancy childbirth and care of the infant.

• Participates in aspects of the units total midwifery program, such as patient care conferences, staff orientation, continuous education, continuous quality improvement, unit meetings, special projects and offers suggestions for improving services.

Serves as a Charge Nurse as assigned by the Head Nurse-Midwife. In the absence of the Head Nurse-Midwife or Assistant Head Nurse may function as an Acting Head Nurse-Midwife

• Professional, calm and collected even under severe emergency conditions to perform complex tasks correctly.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Good problem-solving skills.

• Fluent and comprehensive in written and spoken English.

• Proficient with computer programs.
