Duties and Responsibilities
Performs his/her duties and tasks as per Hospital Policy and Agreement on Professional Code of Conduct.
Actively participates in all quality and performance improvement activities within the department/service and within the hospital as per Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
Actively participates in all the education requirement and activities as per the Hospital Education Program.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of practice and employment contract.
Collaborate with Nursing Administration in all strategic and operational planning, specifically meeting the targets/deliverables under their authority, as per delegation and assignment.
Utilize and embody the Magnet principles: transformational leadership, excellence in nursing practice, supportive of nursing autonomy, structural empowerment including shared governance, nursing research and innovation.
As allocated, be an active participant in hospital-wide committees and positively represents the organization and the profession of nursing both internally and externally.
Disseminate information about nursing informatics and practice to the Nursing Department, other healthcare professionals and nursing students.
Participate in improving organizational clinical performance by recommending areas for improvement, analyzing data and providing input at departmental meetings.
Support standardization of all initiatives, performance improvement projects and nursing practice within scope of expertise and authority within Nursing Administration.
Embrace continuing professional development at all levels. Provide education and training as per scope of expertise and assignment to relevant nursing and non-nursing staff.
Foster growth and development of the National Workforce.
Participate in the recruitment of Nursing Informatics staff as required.
Mentor nursing staff interested in Nursing Informatics, as well as succession planning for Nursing Informatics Specialists.
Empower and support the development of staff at all levels to maintain a high-performing workforce and robust succession planning.
Provide visible and effective transformational leadership which fosters a positive, safe working environment, inclusive of a Culture of Safety and a Culture of Civility.
Promote confidence and transparency through effective and professional communication.
Participate in designing, developing, selecting, test implementation and the evaluation of new or modified informatics solutions, data structures and decision-support mechanisms to support patients, healthcare professionals and their information management as well as human-computer and human-technology interactions within healthcare contexts.
Participate in the analysis and interpretation of patient, nursing or information system data to improve nursing services.
Apply knowledge of computer and information science as well as nursing and informatics theory to nursing practice, education, administration and research, in collaboration with other health informatics specialists.
Participate in translating nursing practice information between nurses and system engineers, analysts or designers using object-oriented models or other techniques.
Participate in the development of strategies, policies or procedures for introducing, evaluating or modifying information technology applied to nursing practice, administration, education or research.
Participate in the development and implementation of policies to ensure privacy, confidentiality and security of patient information.
Identify, collect, record and analyze data that are relevant to the nursing care of patients.
Read and disseminate current literature and participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in healthcare and nursing informatics.
Provide consultation to nurses regarding hardware or software configuration.
