Duties and Responsibilities
GENERAL WARDS
Answer patient’s call signals, direct visitors.
Help patients to eat, dress and bathe.
Serve meals to patient’s bedside.
Turn and reposition bedridden patients to prevent bedsores.
Measure and record food and liquid intake.
Measure patient’s vital signs.
Provides help to patient when walking, exercising, moving in and out of the bed.
Transport patients to treatment units using wheelchair or stretcher.
Dust and tidy patient rooms, and cahngiong linens.
OUT PATIENT DEPARTMENT
Ensures correct Patient Identification in Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic.
Prepares different clinics according to specialties.
Ensures that equipment to be used in consulting room is functional and clean.
Checks the Crash Cart ath the beginning of every shift.
Monitors and records vital signs.
Rotates in different clinics.
Performs aseptic technique in wound dressing.
Observes Infection Control Protocols at all times.
Assists doctors in cast application, ear irrigation and nasal douche.
Activate Emergency Codes including Code Blue and participate in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.
Participates in In-service educational activities.
OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY CLINIC
Ensures correct Patient Identification in Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic.
Ensures that the equipment used in consulting room is functional. E.g. CTG monitor, Fetal Doppler, Ultrasound machines, etc.
Checks the Crash Cart ath the beginning of every shift.
Performs CTG monitoring before consultation as needed.
Assists the Physician with examination of patients in consulting rooms.
Monitors and records vital signs.
Admits High Risk patients to Ob-Gyne Ward and transfers In-labor patients to Labor and delivery Room.
Attends to 6 weeks post natal patients for follow up consultation.
Performs aseptic techniques in wound dressing.
Assists the physician with removal of sutures and clips.
Assists doctors in procedures such as High Vaginal Swab, Pap Smear, IUCD insertion/removal, etc.
Administers Clexane thru Intra-Muscular route.
Collects urine / stool sample for laboratory investigations.
Takes responsibility for his/her own professional conduct and growth.
Protects patient’s confidentiality in accordance with the hospital policy.
Ensures that all nursing documentation is completed accurately and legibly and understands the importance and relevance of their confidential nature.
Is responsible for own professional development growth and remains updated in current professional practices.
Activate Emergency Codes including Code Blue and participate in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.
EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Takes patient weight and height.
Measures patient’s viotal signs.
Consult with doctors in Emergency Department.
Applies aseptic technique in wound dressing.
Performs ECG.
Activate Emergency Codes including Code Blue and participate in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.
Skills
