Medical Sterilizations Technician

Performs reception duties, checking and sorting of all used surgical instruments returned to CSSD for processing in line with department policy. 

Operates sterilization machines effectively and ensure all equipment's are appropriately sterilized for reuse. 

Monitors the sterilization process of clinical equipment and healthcare supplies to ensure quality of product and faultless outcomes.

Assist in correct and safe sterilization of all surgical instruments and dressing packs. 

Responsible for collecting, cleaning, assembling and sterilizing equipment, supplies and instruments from all units and departments, under the direction of the CSSD Manager.

Distributes sterile supplies adequate for routine patient needs and for emergency requirements.

Operates and monitors sterilizers, disinfectors and all other CSSD equipment's.

Issues, distributes and orders sterile medical supplies.

Liaises with Biomedical engineer and control Periodic preventive maintenance (PPM) for the sterilization.

Performs other applicable tasks and duties within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

Knowledge of Operating Room surgical instrumentation, including Orthopedic, Ophthalmic, ENT, Urology, OB and General Surgery instruments.

Knowledge of operating procedures for sterilizers.

Knowledge of sterilization and decontamination procedures. 

Sound knowledge of safety and infection control practices.

 Fluent and comprehensive in written and spoken English. 

Good technical and analytical skills.

Good interpersonal and communication skills.
