Job Description
- Management of Nursing Department.
- Provides leadership and direction for Nursing Department as part of the organization team.
- Establishes goals, objectives and standards for Nursing Department.
- Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates a Nursing Program that reflects the nursing and Hospital philosophy.
- Develop and review of criteria for evaluation of nursing care.
- Promotes achievable quality standards in nursing care.
- Assess, define problems, set goals, establish objectives, and develop strategies for action and evaluation.
- Assess existing and potential systems for effectiveness and formulate recommendations.
- Develop plans of action, both short-range and long-range goals to achieve the departmental objectives.
- Develop policies and guidelines specific to the department that defines nursing activities that meet MSD rules and regulations and JCI and CBAHI Standards.
- Establish structure which focuses on the activities needed to accomplish the department’s objectives.
- Develop and maintain an organizational plan that defines structure, function, working relationships, and allocations of resources.
- Organize, administer, control and direct the operations and activities of the Nursing Department.
- Ensure an effective equitable system for Human Resource Management.
- Enforce compliance to policies, procedures, standards and established practice.
- Recommend decisions regarding staff promotions, transfers, and decisions of disciplinary hearings concerning nursing practice incidents.
- Reviews and approves nursing candidate’s credentials to ensure the recruitment of qualified and experienced nursing staff.
- Submit the requirements for Nurse Education and professional programs to the Academic Affairs and Training Administration.
- Monitor and evaluate the outcome of the Nurse Education and professional programs.
- Participate in preparation of the operational and staffing budget.
Skills Description
- Minimum of (8) years management experience with at least recent (3) years as Director of Nursing.
- Is a liaison between the patient, the patient’s family and other healthcare professionals and acts as a patient / family advocate and nursing staff.
- Collaborative, able to work with all members of healthcare team in a manner that promotes and encourages each contribution towards achieving optimal patient, family and organizational goals.
- Able to respond, anticipate and integrate cultural differences into patient / family care and foster principles of excellent customer service.
- Able to facilitate learning for patients / families, nursing staff and other members of the healthcare team in both a formal and informal educational setting.
- Practices within the Professional Code of Conduct.
