Duties and Responsibilities
Washes and decontaminates used instruments and equipment by following the prescribed techniques.
Maintains and operates washer/sterilizers, sonic washer, steam and gas autoclaves, and other related equipment by adhering to instructions.
Processes and maintains sterile instruments and surgical sets by adhering to the adequacy of sets and correct handling techniques.
Collects and distributes items to and from the units on time and correctly documents any shortage problems.
Inspect all instruments and devices to determine that they are in good working condition.
Checks for and processes outdated supplies and instruments according to the procedure.
Assists in the maintenance of efficient and adequate stock levels.
Reports any problems to CSSD Supervisor.
Promotes personal growth and education by attending in-service and unit staff meetings and offers suggestions related to improved service to units.
Keeps work area and equipment clean.
Maintains a quality standard of service by adhering to established policies and procedures.
Participate in community activities as related to health education and patient education practice.
Participates in CQIPS System Improvement Activities, System Control Activities, Staff Development Activities.
Environmental Safety Awareness i.e. CPR, Disaster Fire, and Infection Control.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills, and abilities.
