Clinical Nurse Manager - Nursing Education

•  Ensures through his/her actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of nursing care, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the Prince Sultan Cardiac Center.
•   Acts as a role model in providing safe and high quality patient care.
• Helps in optimizing resources to improve safety and quality of patient care.
• Identifies departmental learning needs and develops programs to support required staff development including the ability to write and teach full program curriculum.
• Liaises with nurse managers and Nurse Clinicians to ensure the objectives of clinical orientation are met.
• Identifies any area of concern in clinical practice and makes recommendations for improvements.
• Promotes the identification of nursing practice issues as a separate entity from nursing management issues.
• Acts as an educational consultant to nursing and other departments as required.
• Prepares reports and compiles statistics for the department that are distributed to the Director of Nursing and relevant areas.
• Formulates departmental objectives, participates in forward planning of projects and programs.
• Ensures resources are obtained and utilized effectively.
• Reviews and updates the nursing orientation manual on an annual basis
• Maintains written records of employee attendance at all educational programs.
• Manages education related databases and Shared Drive folders containing education resources and records.
• Facilitates the implementation and coordination of the Nursing Orientation program for new employees.
• Liaises with the orientation facilitator from Human Resources Department to collectively provide a comprehensive orientation program.
• Reviews and evaluates external educational programs or conferences.
• Collects and integrates feedback in planning and revising educational programs.
• Writes and provides educational and informational materials for education programs, self-study and updates.
• Liaises with Head Nurses/Nurse Clinicians to ensure clinical education needs are met.
• Promotes research based clinical practices within nursing.
• Is a reference and support person for nurses conducting research projects.
• Motivates departmental staff by effectively leading, directing, and motivating employees to perform to the best of their abilities.
• Conducts performance evaluations to review employee work performance.
• Participates in recruitment and staff promotion interviews for nurse educator positions.
• Represents Nursing Education and Nursing Administration in departmental and hospital committees as delegated by the Director of Nursing.
• Participates in Nursing Department and hospital wide CQI&PS activities.
• Performs other related duties as required.
