Duties and Responsibilities
Team leader on nutritional care services.
Reviewing Nutritional screening and provides Initial assessment and re-assessment of patients.
Development of nutritional plan of care.
Evaluates and documents patient dietary intake.
Highlighting “food and drug interaction” to physicians and clinical staff and document this in the medical record.
Making recommendations related to patient dietary needs.
Monitoring nil per os (NPO) status of the patient.
Interviewing and visiting patient.
Documentation of assessed inpatients/outpatients in the patient's medical record file.
Developing and implementing nutritional care plan.
Calculating calorie requirement and nutrient needs of the patient.
Evaluating and monitoring patient's response to the therapeutic diet.
Performs education and counsels patient, families, and even other members of the health care team about the dietary plans.
Evaluating calorie intake of the patients.
Documenting pertinent nutrition care information in the patient's medical record file.
Communicating nutrition care plan to medical and nursing staff.
Regular and therapeutic diets are planned, prepared, and served with supervision or consultation from the dietitian.
Approving of menu including any modified diets.
Reviewing and updating the dietary manual, and other nutritional education materials.
Doing in-service teaching to the food service staff and when required by the medical and nursing staff regarding the diet manual.
Participating in the development of and enforcing procedures.
Participating the Hospital Wide Quality Management activities.
Participating in environmental safety awareness, i.e. CPR, Disaster plan, Infection Control.
Preparing and reporting month-end nutrition statistics to the head of the Clinical Support Service.
Participates in CQIPS System Improvement Activities, CQIPS System Control Activities, CQIPS Staff Development Activities.
Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned by the Head of Department with his/ her knowledge, skill and abilities.
EDUCATION AND/OR LICENSE:
Essential:
Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietitics .
SCFHS Accreditation and Registration.
BCLS current certification.
Skills
Strong knowledge of inpatient clinical nutrition services and therapeutic nutritional care for all medical/surgical patients.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Detailed Oriented.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Expert on food and nutrition science.
