5.1     To make the cardio-pulmonary bypass pump ready for operation by assembling the sterile components and by operation of the required solutions, etc. for pre-operative charging of the circuits, monitoring the acid base state of the priming solutions.

5.2     To monitor the process of connecting the patients circulation to the cardio-pulmonary bypass pump.

5.3     To supervise the coding of the patient before surgery, especially with regard to pediatric patient’s and including profound hypothermia leading to circulatory arrest.

5.4     To control the pump rates, pharmaceutical input acid/base balance and hemodynamic status during surgery, collaborating with the surgeon and anesthetist.

5.5     To supervise re-warming of the patient following surgery and to monitor the disconnection process, balancing the patient’s circulation by titration of blood volume of the patient from the machine within the narrow range.

5.6     To clean and maintain the pump after and between surgery cases.

5.7     Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

• Ability to cooperate and act logically, especially during emergencies.
• Knowledge of the basic mechanics of the heart/lung machine, and ability to carry out routine maintenance.
• Knowledge of human physiology with some pharmacology and infection controlز
• Ability to handle sterile items and work in a sterile environment.
• Experience in Centrifugal pump system.

Bachelor degree in perfusion Technology or equivalent
