Duties and Responsibilities
Administers complete Audiological evaluations of pediatric and adult patients in both inpatient and outpatient basis as prescribed by physician, for analysis, evaluation and possible rehabilitation.
Conducts vestibular tests and performs vestibular exercises; Epley Maneuver and Educating the patients on home vestibular Exercises.
Responsible for the assessment of hearing for all patients referred through the ENT department and provides a wide range of special tests that fail within the specialist capabilities and capacity of the equipment available.
Interview the patients to learn their symptoms and medical histories and analyze the test results and therefore discuss the possible solutions with the patients.
Responsible for the fitting of hearing aids and the training the patients in their use and adjustment of the hearing aids if needed in the follow up of the patient.
Instruct patients on how to use and maintain the devices, mainly the hearing aids providing demonstrations and information.
Make necessary recommendations and referrals for patients and provide appropriate counseling to the patients and their families.
Writes all appropriate reports for sessions and forward them to all necessary participants.
Evaluating the vestibular system including supervision and interpretation of the electrophysiological and behavioral tests of equilibrium.
Diagnosing and rehabilitation of vestibular disorders.
Performing Auditory Brain Response and Electronystamography (ENG) Vestibulonystamography (VNG).
Receive continuing education to stay up to date on medical knowledge and techniques.
Perform the applicable tasks and duties within the realm of his/her knowledge skill and abilities.
Skills
Experience in general service requiring basic occupational knowledge and skills in audiology, hearing aid service and medical facility.
Knowledge of theory and application of audiological equipment.
Ability to acticulate description of hearing and conditions.
Ability to articulate the role of Audiology specialist to the patients.
Ability to communicate well with patients despite potential hearing issues.
Must be calm and reassuring exuding confidence and professionalism.
