Interview patients to learn their symptoms and medical histories.

Conduct screenings and tests to determine the severity and type of hearing impairment.

Carry out basic hearing tests such as bone conduction, air conduction, speech audiometry tests, etc.

Analyze test findings to make diagnoses, then discuss possible solutions with patients.

Recommend and dispense assistive listening devices.

Instruct patients on how to use and maintain the devices, providing demonstrations and information.

Assist audiologists with nonsurgical procedures designed to treat hearing disorders.

Modify devices that have already been placed in patients’ ears, to make them function or fit better.

Teach patients with aural rehabilitation techniques.

Receive continuing education and read professional publications to stay up-to-date on medical knowledge and techniques.

Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.

Participates in CQI&PS system improvement activities, system control activities, and staff development activities.

Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills, and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical facilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR LICENSE:

Essential:

Saudi Board eligible/certified.

Two-year programs in this specialty courses include audiology, ear anatomy, and hearing aid technology.

Saudi Commission For Health Specialties (SCFHS) Registration and Accreditation.

Ability to communicate well with patients, despite potential hearing issues.

Must be calm and reassuring while exuding confidence and professionalism.

Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.

Detailed personality with excellent record keeping skills.

Knowledgeable in Screen speech-language, the use of sign language, and other factors affecting communication function for the purposes of audio logic evaluation and/or initial identification of individuals with other communication disorders.
