Duties and Responsibilities
5.1 Responsible for performing surveillance activities as directed by the IC Committee.
5.2 Reports to the Health Dept. and other regulatory agencies as required.
5.3 Review and revises IC policies and protocols to maintain standard and practice compliance.
5.4 Provide routine and special education on IC and safety related topics as needed.
5.5 Performs inspection rounds in all areas of both hospitals and affiliates to monitor compliance.
5.6 Prepares summary IC data for committees and studies.
5.7 Shares 24 hour responsibility for availability to respond to IC concerns.
5.8 Acts as the Infection Prevention and Control Officer and assures program components meet all regulatory guidelines and rules.
5.9 Facilitates organization wide Infection Prevention and Control Program.
5.10 Authority to take steps to prevent or control the acquisition and transmission of identified infectious agents.
5.11 Develop hospital systems for reporting infection surveillance, prevention and control information for the following:
5.11.1 The appropriate staff within the hospital.
5.11.2 Federal, state, and local public health authorities in accordance with law and regulation.
5.11.3 Accrediting bodies such as for sentinel Event reporting.
5.11.4 Facilitate National Patient Safety Goal: Facilitate good hand hygiene practices.
5.11.5 Referring or receiving organization when a patient was transferred or referred and the presence of an infection was not known at the time of transfer or referral.
5.12 Develop systems for investigation of outbreaks of infectious diseases.
5.13 Assist Directors in the development and regular review of their unique infection prevention and control policies.
5.14 Participate in programs to facilitate Influenza vaccination of staff, licensed practitioners, and volunteers

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).

- Fluent in English (speaking, reading and writing).
- Strong presentation skills.

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or other health science field & Infection Control Qualificatio
