3.1 Comply with all appropriate medical phlebotomy standard operating procedures
3.2 Perform with precision, accuracy and understanding, all standard procedures relating to patient phlebotomy, bleeding times and assisting with medical biopsies
3.3 Ensure that all patients are dealt with in a professional manner with courtesy and respect
3.4 Maintain strict confidentiality at all times and protect the patients' right to privacy
3.5 Participate in all scheduled shifts as and when required
3.6 Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance of phlebotomy equipment according to standard procedures and maintenance schedules and reports any apparent malfunction to the

3.7 Understand and comply with the Pathology Department Safety Code, appropriate Nursing Policy and Procedures and Infection Control Procedures
3.8 Ensure that the phlebotomy area is kept clean and tidy according to protocol
3.9 Assist in the training of new employees and students as directed by the Nursing Supervisor
3.10 Assist the Nursing Supervisor and SMLSO in the organization and maintenance of adequate levels of supplies according to standard procedure
3.11 Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee's knowledge, skills and abilities
