Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensure through his / her actions, either directly or indirectly, that there is a good quality of medical treatment, compassion and understand, is being given to every patient served at the Al Kharj Armed Forces Hospital.
• Performs transthoracic echocardiography examinations according to the guidelines and procedures outlined by the department.
• Prepares the patients (checking of blood pressure, getting the height, weight and oxygen saturation) prior to the study. Gives instruction to the patient about the studies to be done.
• Explain testing procedures to patients to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety
• Records analyses of the heart and related structures, using echo machine
• Compares measurements of heart wall thickness and chamber sizes to standard norms to identify abnormalities.
• Assesses cardiac physiology and calculate value areas from blood flow velocity measurements.
• Alerts or informs the cardiologist for any abnormal findings seen in the study.
• Conducts Bubble study (Contrast study) to patients, with the presence of cardiologist
• Performs portable transthoracic echoes
• Prepares examination videos for review by the physicians.
• Instructs and Attaches Holter machine to patients
• Scans echo requests and determine priority of requests.
• Files echo and holter reports and other supporting documents.
• Records test results and other data in patient’s record.
• Assesses medical equipment’s and reports any malfunctions to biomedical department.
• Receives patient inquiries and telephone calls in order to arrange for patient appointments.
• Requests medical and non-medical supplies as required.
• Strictly adheres to the policies and procedure outlined by the department in the performance of his/her duties.
• Supervises trainees in the clinical setting.
• Timely renews Basic Life Support.
• Abides to the Infection Control policies.
• Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of employee's knowledge skills and abilities.

• Persuasive, diplomatic, strong leadership qualities and commands respect.
• Good communication, organizational and administrative skills, good negotiating and facilitating skills. Ability to work effectively within all levels of management within the hospital.
