Duties and Responsibilities
1.Plans and assembles equipment for anesthetic needs of the patient.
2.Prepares medication for patients according to the written instruction of the doctor. (Control Drugs Medications must be coordinated with the Head Nurse).
- Takes and records vital signs of patient as necessary.
4.Observes, records and reports all abnormal finding to the Charge (Scrub) Nurse and /or Doctor.
- Documents completely, appropriately and timely in patient’s file.
6.Adjusts anesthetic inhalational and resuscitative equipment, ensuring that all equipment is serviceable and maintained in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
7.Observes sterile techniques as necessary, ensuring correct use of gowns, masks, gloves, scrub suits and shoes as necessary.
8.Observes isolation techniques as necessary.
9.Observes and documents progress of intravenous infusions, maintains prescribed infusion rate and ensures that I.V. site is satisfactory.
10.Ensures instruments, equipment and area clean.
11.Maintains cleanliness and neatness of patient environment, recovery area, operating room, utility rooms and nursing station.
12.Anticipates and identifies potential problems and resolution of problems recommending changes to Head Nurse.
13.Responsible for updating own professional development.
14.Participates in “on call” duties if required.
15.Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her.
Skills
Knowledge of servicing and maintenance of anesthetic and electronic equipment.
