To supervise and monitor the care of all patients requiring anesthesia provided by
the allocated cardiac anesthesia team.
3.2. To evaluate patients to formulate an adequate anesthetic plan that should provide
the highest standards within the available resources.
3.3. To coordinate and direct a team of nurses, medical technicians, and other healthcare
professional.
3.4. To collaborate and communicate with other medical professionals to determine care
plans and provide high-quality patient care.
3.5. To participate in the planning and implementation of the hospital policies.
3.6. To be responsible for all functional and technical aspects of anesthesia services
provided to maintain highJevel of professional and technical work.

To provide anesthesia with the full range of anesthetic agents, methods and
techniques in accordance with accepted professional standards and hospital
or ganization p oli ci es.
3.8. To make decisions without reference to the Medical Director, except where
administrative authority is required or when other Medical Services functions or
organization of the hospital is involved.
3.9. To consult with or advise other specialist and consultants on major, complicated
cases and with patients or guardians concerning necessary procedures, anesthetic
agents to be used, and alternative choices.
3.10. To have a frequent contact with personnel of Cardiac Service Department, Nurses,
Physicians and Specialists of other services to exchange information.
3.1 l. To keep informed as to current development in the field of cardiac anesthesia and
keeps the staffup to date on procedures through group discussions, lectures, and inservice
training.
3.12. To develop and maintain professional quality and make recommendations for
improvement of such standards from time to time.
3.13. To maintain effective communications with assigned personnel, other consultants in
the department.
3.14. To perform the professional duties of a specialty in accordance with the delineation
of the scope of care and privileges as recommended by the Head of Cardiac
Anesthesia Department and approved by the Credentials Committee
3.15. To provide the needed care to his/trer patients in the wards.
3.16. To perform the needed procedures according to the clinical privileging.
3.17. To provide consultation service to the in and out-patient service in his/her area of
expertise.
3.18. To share in the on-call duties as per the duty schedule.
3.19. To supervise the work of the assistant and/or associate consultants, professional
development of the junior physicians and interns and provides his/her evaluation of
their work at the request of the Head of Cardiac Anesthesia Department.
3.20. To assure performing medical documentation and charting in a legible and
professional way and to supervise the documentation of the rest of the team.
3.21. To communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and patients.
3.22. To work as a member of the team and to share administrative responsibilities.

3.23. To undertake administrative duties whenever needed associated with the care of
hislher patients under the direction of the Head of Cardiac Anesthesia Department.
3.24. To provide advices to the Head of Cardiac Anesthesia Department to assist in the
overall management on the department and the orgarizatron.
3.25. To provide a good example to the junior staff in terms of adherence to the
professional conduct and ethics.
3.26. To provide leadership, supervision and haining to the junior staff, fellows and
residents.
3.27. To provide patient and family education according to patient's status and needs.
3.28. To conduct research to make advancements in the field of cardiac anesthesia.
3.29. Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.
3.30. Educates patients and/or families on matters relevant to the patient's condition/s.
3.31. Protects and upholds the rights of the patients and their families.

Self-motivated and with awareness of current trends in the field.

. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

. Ability to speak, write and read Arabic and English.
