Duties and Responsibilities
Integrates clinical findings, dim:ts patient obscrvatiom, laboratory r:csuhs. and other diagnostic test to determine the presence ofinfections 8CCOl'ding lothe criteriaestablished by the CDC and
Responds to survciUmce of infections based on the Infection Control SurveiUancePlan for asmgned in patient and ambulatory care Wlits.
Inputs and maintains accu:rale data inthe infection control database.
Provides a basic level of epidemiologicalinvestigation of infections across the hospital and applies epidemiologic principles in data analysis, identification of trends, risk factors, and designing improvemeot initiatives.
Makes recommendations and initiates appropriaae isolation precautions to be used
for known or suspected infectious processes, and discontinues precautions .
Perfonns appropriate follow-up of employees who have unprotected exposure to
diseases for which specific protocols exist.
Collaborates with the Infection Control team and other relevant stakeholders on
activities, decisions, and actiOnS. .related to the en-vironment of care and risk management.
Participates in thedevelopment and revision of the infection control policies and
Participates in the departmental and hospital - wide performance improvement activities.
Ensures that Standards for Joint Commission lntemationaJ Accreditation (JCIA)and Central Board of Accreditation for Healthcare Institutions are met.
Serves as a resource on infection control practices and policies for patients. families and staffs.
Serves as a member of the Infection Control Committee and other Hospital
committees as assigned.
Educates peticnlS and/or families on matters relevant to the patient' s condition/s asapplicable.
Participates in self education, training and development, as applicable .
Follows all established HospitaJ policies and/or procedures.
Protects and upholds the rights of the patients and their families.
Maintains confidentiality at all times.
