Duties and Responsibilities

3.1 Ensures that the facility is in compliance with applicable safety policies and procedures of Prince Sultan Armed Force Hospital-medina.

3.2 Plans, develops, implements a comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety program and check compliance of all activities within the Hospitals relating to safety, security, hazardous materials and waste management, accident /incident prevention and investigation, emergency preparedness, risk reduction strategies for clinical, engineering. utilities and maintenance, constructions and renovations.

3.3 Review and update Hospital Safety Plans and ensures full compliance with regulatory standards (CBAHI, JCI, NFPA and Local Safety Standards).

3.4 Provides the leadership, administrative support and coordination appropriate to develop, plan, maintain and implement safe and sustainable building and purchasing concepts.

3.5 Assist in providing high quality advice based on safety and risk prevention, occupational

health and fire prevention/protection reference, standards, codes and safe working practices.

3.7 Participates in Environmental Rounds and provide detailed reports for al safety issues observed.

3.8 Inspects and evaluates operational readiness of the fire detection and suppression systems of the hospital.

3.9 Conducts Safety and Risk Assessments thru Safety Rounds and inspection. Submits

comprehensive reports with plan for rectification and resolutions of any safe issues identified.

3.10 Develops standard safety performance indicators, evaluates and monitors performance and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.

3.11 Designs regulatory data collections processes and establishes data reporting, identify priorities and trends, set achievable goals.

3.12 Conducts weekly or monthly environmental compliance inspection at every facility/department.

3.13 Consults, advises and communicates with departments and contractors on safe and sustainable building concepts in accordance with policies and procedures.

3.14 Assessment and providing safety recommendations for any renovation, refurbishment and new construction of structures within the hospital premises.

3.15 Recommends standards for new project plans in compliance with Life Safety Code 101.

3.16 Inspects and implements Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) for new constructions and renovations.

3.17 Plans, directs and evaluates safety of al hospital staff and implements safety training programs.

3.18 Provide and schedule Safety Trainings with all staff to promote safety awareness and preparedness during emergency situations;

3.19 Plan and coordinate with the Disaster Council in conducting Internal and External Disaster Drills and Code Red Evacuation Drill and other codes.

3.20 Identify opportunities to improvise reporting and prevent accidents/incidents and near misses.

3.21 Oversee the compilation and reporting of accidents and safety statistics on a periodic and regular basis and ensure all required reports on injuries and fatalities are completed.

3.22 Maintains professional growth and development by participating and organizing seminars,

workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in safety expertise.

3.23 Tracks hazardous and non-hazardous waste generation, storage and disposal for the hospital as required in implementing environmental safety. Maintain all records associated with hazardous waste generation including manifests, waste profiles, monthly accumulation logs, and inspection reports.

3.24 Maintains and trains on hazard communication program which includes updating and maintaining MSDS program and assuring compliance with container labeling program.

3.25 Participate in the chemical product evaluation and approval process.

3.26 Acts as an emergency coordinator in case of hazardous materials spills. Advise and coordinates spill response team.

3.27 Participate in departmental, committees/ sub-committees and taskforce meetings as assigned.

 

Skills

Knowledgeable in Safety Standards and Requirements (CBAHI, JCI, OSHA, NFPA and Local Standards).

 Attend Safety Committee and other Safety related meetings initiated by the hospital and its department.
