Abides  by  the  Medical  Staff  Bylaws,  Code  of  Medical  Ethics,  Rules  andRegulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department/division.

Provides the highest possible standard of medical care for patients for whom he/sheis responsible.

Carries out full range of inpatient and outpatient clinical duties as assigned by theDirector/ Head of Cardiac Surgery in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges.

Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department/division.

Teaches staff assigned for training purposes, and participates with theDirector/Head of Cardiac Surgery and Director of Postgraduate and AcademicAffairs in planning a programme of career development for trainees.

Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Total QualityManagement   Programme,   Quality Assessment   Improvement   Programme)   

Fulfillsthe requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard tocontinuing medical education.

Participates inand/oractively supports approved research projects.

Deputies for his superior as required and shares workload in his specialty duringthe absence of his colleagues.

Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regardto  morbidity and cost effectiveness.

Serves on hospital committees as requested .

Participate                    in                       the  forward             planning,    and    further    development     of                                   the department/division.

Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.

Educates patients and/or families on matters relevant to the patient's condition/s.

Protects and upholds  the rights of the patients and their families.

Participates in quality improvement and patient safety activities and attends quality improvement educational activities as appropriate.

Adheres to infection control guidelines.

Maintains confidentiality at all times.

Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/herknowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medicalfacilities.

Self-motivatedand with awareness of current trends in the field.

Ability to work ina multi-cultural environment.

Ability to speak, write and read Arabic and English.
