Duties and Responsibilities
He/she shall report to the unit consultant and to the Chief of Department.
He/she shall take on call duties according to the requirements of the department.
He/she shall provide active support for the consultant in total patient care and management as agreed by the unit consultant.
He/she shall initiate the evaluation and treatment of patients and conduct the surgical management of patients within his delineated credentials with the consent of his consultant or the consultant on call.
He/she may modify or change the initial evaluation and treatment of patients begun by junior staff with regards to the patient’s clinical condition.
He/she shall provide departmental supervision of specific vocational training of junior staff in the department as directed by the unit consultant or Ob./Gynae tutor.
He/she shall directly supervise the work conduct of the junior staff in his unit regarding the performance of their clinical duties in the wards, emergency room and in the outpatient department.
He/she shall take an active role in the teaching of residents and all the other departmental academic activities including research.
He/she shall assume the responsibility of a Ob./ Gynae Consultant when required to do so by the Chief of Department and authorized by the Medical Director or Credentials Committee.
Whenever judged by the Chief of Department and/or the Credentials Committee that he/she has attained sufficient higher professional training, the Senior Registrar may act up in Consultant capacity when requested or promoted to do so. While meeting the eligibility for registration by SCHS ( Saudi Commission for Health Specialties ).
Performs other duties within the realm of his/her qualifications and experience.
To run outpatient clinic and theatre lists as scheduled and to be responsible for patients admitted under his/her care and consultant on call will be notified of that admission.
To conduct regular ward rounds as per departmental policies and to take regular call-duties as per monthly duty rota.
