Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and
Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department.
3.2. Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom
he/she is responsible.
3.3. Carries out a full range of inpatient and outpatient clinical duties as assigned by the
Director of Obstetrics & Gynaecology/Consultant in accordance with
individually approved clinical privileges.
3.4. Participates in on-call duties as required by the department.
3.5. Teaches staff assigned for training purposes, and participates with the Director of
Obstetrics & Gynaecology and the Consultant in planning a programme of career
development for trainees.
3.6. Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Total Quality
Management Programme, Quality Assessment Improvement Programme) as
applicable.

Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard to
continuing medical education.
3.8. Participates in andlor actively supports the approved research projects.
3.9. Deputises for the Consultant as required and shares the workload in his specialty
during the absence ofhis colleagues.
3.10. Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard
to morbidity and cost effectiveness.
3.1l. Palticipates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated
3.12. Educates patients and/or families on matters relevant to the patient's condition/s.
3.13. Protects and upholds the rights of the patients and their families.
3.14. Participates in quality improvement and patient safety activities and attends quality
improvement educational activities as appropriate.
3.15. Adheres to infection control guidelines.
3.16. Maintains confidentiality at all times.
3.17. Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her
knowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical
facilities.
