Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

5.1    Philosophy

5.1.1 Supports philosophy, objectives and policies of the Nursing Department.

5.1.2   Assist the Director of Nursing with formulation, implementation and evaluation of policies pertaining to Education and competency of staff.

5.1.3          Interprets philosophy, objectives and policies of the Nursing Department to staff, to promote quality and compliance to policies.

5.1.4          Formulate and review policies pertaining to education to meet international nursing standards.

5.2    Planning/Organization:

5.2.1          The Head of Education with the rest of the Education team will work together to:

5.2.2     Compile a hospital annual and monthly Education plan, based on needs analysis and Quality requirements.

5.2.3      Provides consultation to enhance continuing education, professional development opportunities and mentorship opportunities.

5.2.4     Ensure all training focus on outcomes to maintain the competence of all nursing staff.

5.2.5          Ensure assessment focuses on evaluation to proof competency of staff.

5.2.6          Coordinate placement of Interns with Education team and monitor program to assist both, Head Nurse, Educators and Interns.

5.2.7    Develops and coordinates other educational programs as the needs arise to support professional growth of all staff.

5.2.8    Ensure that all programs meet the expectation, Head Nurses, ADON and DON as well as the regulatory requirements.

5.3    Personnel

5.3.1          Will assist in interviews, may recommend selection, during placement and appointment of Interns.

5.3.2  May conduct disciplinary action, of interns where applicable or when delegated by Education Department Head.

5.3.3    Responsible for Education staff re-contracting evaluation and identification of poor performance.

5.4    Quality Assurance and Patient Safety

5.4.1 Will assist Head Nurses in ensuring that nursing staff are made aware of all policies, procedures and standards within the hospital and updates are communicated to all.

5.4.2          Participates in quality performance improvement activities.

5.4.3          Support integration of research practice and uptake of “best practices” to fur full the role as the recourse hub.

5.5    Self-development

5.5.1          Will do effort to stay up to date with new deployment in the Nursing filed as you are the recourse hub.

5.5.2     Identifies and plans to meet own continuing education needs.

5.5.3    Initiates research programs to promote learning and implementation of best practices.

5.6    Evaluation

5.6.1   Participates in any other evaluation process as is required by MSD and or related Hospital Departments to ensure effective, safe patient care, or as delegated by DON.

Skills

  1.   Minimum three (3) years’ relevant Nursing Education experience
  2. 8.2    Minimum three (3) years’ experience in education and health care organization.
  3. 8.3   Knowledgeable and skill of teaching methodology, when planning and organizing any training event in order to create a learning environment
