Duties and Responsibilities
• Operationally responsible for quality patient care and ensuring the compliance to MSD Standards in a trans-cultural environment.
• Ensures the highest standard of clinical care is maintained, utilizing a systematic approach to nursing.
• Reviews nursing practices, procedures and recommends improvements.
• Promotes and participates in health education to patients and relatives.
• Maintains safe staff patient ratio and skills mix.
• Coordinates and monitor activities of staff and patient care.
• Anticipates and identifies potential/ actual problems and resolutions recommending changes as necessary.
• Completes objective performance evaluation.
• Review medical records for accurate and timely documentation.
• Direct support staff as appropriate in the provision of care of the patient and providing supervision as necessary.
• Coordinates and monitor activities of staff and patient care.
• Anticipates and identifies potential/actual problems and resolutions recommending changes as necessary.
• Assist with identifying and reporting accidents and incidents.
• Assign and coordinate patient care and related duties.
• Collaborate with Head Nurse/ Nurse Manager to obtain necessary human and material resource.
• Recognize other's need for assistance and intervene as necessary.
• Make decisions and convey appropriately to team members.
• Assist in safeguarding the welfare and safety of patients and other staff by being aware of Health and Safety at Work, Fire Prevention & Management, Infection Control Procedures.
• Demonstrate effective communication by defining rationale for assignments, reporting problems or concerns to the Head Nurse and acting in liaison with other departments.
• Coordinate patient admission/ discharge/ trans fer arrangements. Arrange for continuing outpatient services and arrange home care referral as needed.
• Triage patient problems as necessary.
• Participate fully in the multi-disciplinary patient rounds and advise as necessary.
• Maintain awareness of patients' condition and staff workloads.
• Complete and exchange information between the incoming and outgoing nursing staff by communicating patient care needs and unusual events.
• Ensure patient/ staff confidentiality.
• Maintain patient records accurately and promptly in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Assist in maintaining safe custody of drugs in accordance with hospital policy and procedures.
• Assist in establishing and monitoring protocols and pathways.
• Act as facilitator in the supervision and teaching of less experienced staff.
• Facilitate the orientation program for new members of staff.
• Work as preceptor/ mentor in the support and development of junior staff.
• Assist in monitoring staff performance and participate in staff reviews and annual appraisals.
• Keep up to date with relevant clinical and professional developments in nursing.
• Assist in promoting nursing practice in line with relevant research development and findings.
• Be aware of the role of nurse in handling complaints, according to Continuous Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (C QI and P S) policy and procedure.
• Contribute to the setting of standards and monitoring of measurable standards of care, and be accountable for maintaining standards.
• Assist in the in-service training for ward staff and contribute to training of staff in accordance with Saudization plans.
• Follow all hospital-related policies and procedures.
• Ensure self-motivation for personal continuing education.
• Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee's knowledge, skills and abi l itie s.
• 3 .4 1 . Creates and submit accurate and reliable ROT A, K PI and Monthly
Statistics on time.
• Provide health teachings to patient and significant others.
Skills
• Must have good critical thinking skills .
