• DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs a variety of supportive and technical nursing skills and utilizes a range of equipment, supplies, medication and other modalities in carrying out specific medical orders for administration of medications and performance of specific treatments, monitoring techniques and other diagnostic, therapeutic and supportive Uses equipment in a safe and effective manner.

• Supports and assist the Head Nurse/Charge Nurse in establishing a good working environment in which patient receive a high standard of care.

• Takes responsibility for the direct delivery of professional and competent patient care by promoting quality care

• Participates in the monitoring of the planning, delivery of care and evaluation of the individualized patient care.

• Informs the Head Nurse/Charge Nurse of any changes in circumstances whichaffect the standards of

• Establishes and develops effective communications nursing, support services patients and

• Maintains safety and well-being of patients and staff in accordance with hospital policies and

• Provides a safe, therapeutic, personalized physical and psychosocial environment for patient

• Assists in the formation of nursing care standards/policies and supports the Head Nurse/Charge Nurse and unit staff in its

• Uses equipment and supplies in a cost effective and responsible manner and participates in the procedures for ordering supplies within the agreed budget as delegated.

• Ensures that Infection Control practices are adhered to in accordance with approved Infection Control

• Ensures that students and temporary staff allocated to the ward have appropriate orientation, teaching and support in accordance with their curriculum objectives and reports any matter of concern to the Head Nurse/Charge

• Participates in the care, custody and administration of Medicines in accordance with the hospital

• Documents and reports all accidents/incidents to Head Nurse/Charge Nurse.

• Ensures that all nursing documentation is completed accurately and legibly and understand the importance and relevance of their confidential

• Assists in data collection for monitoring and statistical

• Participates in staff orientation and ongoing development

• Responsible for own professional development and growth and remains updated in current professional

• Responsible for keeping updated in Infection Control, Lifting and Handling, Fire and Safety and Disaster on a yearly

• Responsible for keeping Drug Calculation certification 2 yearly.

• Demonstrate knowledge of the hospital quality program.

• Takes an evidence based approach to the assessment, planning,

implementation and evaluation of patient care.

• Demonstrate effective communication in the work

• Leads quality improvement and facilitates change where

• Collaborates with interdisciplinary health team members in establishing the plan of care for selected patient

• Assists with the resolution of problems on a shift-to-shift basis, with appropriate documentation and follow-up reports to the Head

• Carries out other duties responsible to the role and the individual at the request of the Head Nurse/Charge

• Clinical Staff (Nurses, Physicians, Dietitian) and health educator are

knowledgeable about patient education and it is integral part of care process.

Feedback is ensured for proper understanding; patient and family education is documented in patient medical record.
